Mentoring program

Background:

Participants who come to the PingPongParkinson Quooker German Open for the first time or travel from abroad are overwhelmed by the size of the event and the organization. Registration, finding accommodation, planning travel to and from the event, accreditation, orientation on site, etc. are major challenges and obstacles, especially for people with Parkinson’s disease. These need to be eliminated and everyone should be able to participate without stress.

The idea:

Experienced players agree to look after these participants before and during GOOL2025, provide assistance, answer questions or simply be there to make access to the tournament and the Parkinson’s family easier.

The implementation:

The formation of the mentor team begins immediately. The willingness to participate as a mentor can be signaled to the PPP base manager Oldenburg from 01.12.2024.  When registering for GOOL2025, protégés can indicate their participation in the program. The organizers will then create the pairings and pass on the contact details.

The requirements:

Mentors:

• Participation in at least one PingPongParkinson German Open
• For foreign participants, sufficient language skills in German and the language of the protégé.
• Consent that your own e-mail address and telephone number may be forwarded to the protégé.

Protegés:

• Consent that their own e-mail address and telephone number may be forwarded to the protégé.

The benefit:

More security for the protégés and stress-free fun at table tennis for everyone.
Participation in the mentoring program will be considered in the allocation of places at GOOL2025. However, it is not a guarantee of participation.
